If required, in an emergency wedding rings are cut off. A common question asked is, are all men’s wedding rings able to be removed safely? Whilst some men’s wedding rings are stronger than others, and all rings are made from different materials, most men’s wedding rings can be removed safely.
Men’s wedding rings can be removed, and hospitals have the equipment to do this. There are a few different techniques used to removed wedding rings, but rest assured all men’s wedding rings can be cut off. Different metals require different techniques when removing them. Rings can either be cut off, or depending on the metal, cracked off. The list below outlines how some common metals are removed.
Gold – this can generally be cut off with a standard tool. Gold is a soft metal and can be removed easily.
Tungsten and Titanium – these rings are cracked off rather than cut. Hospitals are equipped to do this if necessary. Tungsten and Titanium are harder metals, which mean they have less flexibility and it is harder to cut them off. But when put under a lot of pressure, safely by a medical professional, they will crack under the pressure and be safely removed.
We always advised to not wear a ring whilst working with your hands. Head here to find out more about ring safety.
